Azerbaijan COVID-19-UPDATE

Current Disease Statistics:

  • 8,191 confirmed cases

  • 98 deaths in Azerbaijan

  • 4,606 patients cured

  • 349,200 tests have been performed so far

Number of cases started to rapidly increase after starting normalization process.

COVID-19 patients are admitted to 20 hospitals all around Azerbaijan. New fully equipped hospital named New Clinic is one of the biggest pandemic hospitals in Baku.

According to the information obtained from the local network, pandemic hospitals started to experience lack of medical personnel and bedspace. However we are still able to arrange visits and place GOP to non-pandemic hospitals in our network in Baku and Ganja region.

What Restrictions Are Currently Applied?

On 31 March, Azerbaijan declared nationwide quarantine. People are required to stay in private houses and apartments, permanent or temporary places of residence.

All of Azerbaijan’s borders are currently closed to passenger traffic. Flights into and out of Azerbaijan will not be available until July 1, 2020 according to the last decision of Cabinet of Ministers.

Flights into and out of Azerbaijan are not available. The Government of Azerbaijan has extended rules restricting international passenger traffic and movement in the regions of Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Lankaran, Absheron, and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through July 1, 2020.

All arrivals to Azerbaijan are currently being placed in a mandatory 14-day quarantine in government-provided facilities, regardless of travel origin.

Some measures including necessity to obtain permission by sending a text message in order to leave home for essential trips, were lifted as of 18.05.2020. However as of last week curfews during the weekends were resumed due to rapid increase of the cases.

Wearing masks in public areas are mandatory.

Azerbaijan Grand Prix and UEFA Euro 2020, where Azerbaijan was one of host countries were postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
