COVID-19 Turkey Update
What restrictions are currently applied?
As of 19.03.2020, Turkey has restricted entry from 16 countries and suspended flights to and from: Norway, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Spain, France, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Austria, Iraq, Iran, Georgia, Azerbaijan, China and South Korea until April the 17th.
Turkey declared a surprise 1- 3 weeks holiday for all schools and higher education on Friday the 13th of March, 2020.
Hotels and resorts are recommended to postpone the beginning of new tourism season until the end of April.
Cancelled attendance to all sports activities at every level.
Close to 16,000 returning pilgrims from Saudi Arabia are relocated to dorms in Ankara and Konya for 14 days of quarantine.
wo aeroplanes have been diverted (Airplanes diverted themselves) to Ankara due to onboard COVID-19 suspicion and all passengers are taken to 14 days quarantine.
Any returning residents are asked to do voluntary 14days of quarantine upon arrival. All residents are encouraged to cancel any international trip until the end of April
People are encouraged to stay at home as much as possible and apply strict hand hygiene, stay away from crowded places and not to present to hospitals unless it is really necessary.
All international airports are now being screened with thermal cameras.
Some hospitals are now designated as reference hospital for COVID-19 suspects. They have some outpatient clinics special for COVID-19 cases. But no hospitals areyet designated as “only-COVID-19”.
184 hotline number of Ministry of Health now provides guidance for COVID-19 disease to the public.
Medical guidelines are reviewed and renewed by the Coronavirus Science Council continuously for the use of hospital administrators, medical practitioners and government bodies.
