COVID-19 Turkey Update #6

  1. 948,115 tests have been performed

  2. 114,653 confirmed cases

Lockdown will be imposed for 3 days, on May 1, 2 and 3. It will start at 00:00 on May 1 and end at midnight on May 3.

  1. Supermarkets and grocery shops will be open on May 1 between 09:00 – 14:00 and people will be allowed to go to the ones nearest to their homes in the condition that they do not drive. However, on May 2 and 3, they will be closed.

  2. Hospital, pharmacies and bakeries producing bread will be open during the lockdown.

  3. Lockdowns are expected to continue during weekends until the end of May as the three previous consecutive weekends.

28.04.2020: Lockdown on people under 20 (born after 01.01.2000) and above 65 years of age or people with a chronic medical condition continue since 10th of April, with certain exemptions for those aged between 18 and 20 working at public and private sectors.

  1. More Turkish citizens continue to arrive in Turkey and enter voluntary isolation in University dormitories. Approximately 23,800 people are in this type of isolation now.

  2. Ministry of Health Filiation teams continues to track down and monitor the people who had contact with a confirmed case. Most of the cases are diagnosed at an early stage this way.

09.04.2020: Surgical masks are banned for commercial purchase. They are to be provided freely who applied to In an earlier decision FFP2/N95 masks were decided to be sold only by prescription.

  1. Wearing surgical mask remain obligatory in all public places, markets, state offices and public transports.

  2. Close to 250 villages, towns or neighbourhoods are still under complete quarantine.

Travel Restrictions:

  1. All domestic and international commercial flights are cancelled until May 28 (excluding May 28).

  2. Only special rescue flights are in service.
