Number of new cases started to increase at a a slight slope reaching to 1200 per day average last week. This was expected as the people’s movement increased with summer vacations and recent 4 day long national holiday where people visit their family in rural areas traditionally.

State hospitals started to open up their pandemic patient wards in major cities.

Russia started to send tourists to Turkey at a pace of almost normal summer season.

Resorts hotels with more than 50 beds are required to obtain Safe Tourism Certificate after the audit of Turkish Standards Institute. One of the requirements of certification is voluntary provision of PCR testing at the hotel.

After the first COVID-19 cases in Turkey were notified on 11 March 2020, 5.282.615 tests were performed in total. Between 3 - 9 August, 377.920 tests were performed.

In total, 241.808 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, and 5.844 deaths due to COVID19 have been reported in Turkey.

The total number of hospitalizations was 130.814, and 3.949 patients were newly hospitalized between 3 - 9 August.

Compared to the previous week, the number of COVID-19 tests increased.

The death rate of all confirmed cases was 2,42%.
